The dream was developed by helping my own family member out of homelessness and drug use. Through prayer, counseling, and supporting him over twenty-four month period he was able to get off drugs and get a place to live. Furthermore, he was able to go to school and obtain a Bachelor degree.  Seeing these results and realizing the magnitude of this problem, lead me to do more and reach out to the many inflicted with homelessness and drugs.

Several years later, a friend of mine approached me at church for guidance regarding her homeless brother.  She had a one bed room apartment and a roommate, and she did not have room to accommodate her brother. Therefore, having knowledge about Community of Hope organization she reached out to me to see if I could help her brother.

Her Brother who had many of the challenges that are typically found with the homeless such as health challenges, no income, among other things was the very type of person Community of hope was committed to help.  Literally taken him by his hand we were able to clean him up and make him presentable enough to get him a job at Wal-Mart.  That was the first step for him then we were able to teach him how to read and write, after 18 months he was able to be self- supporting and graduated from the program.  After the program he married and moved back home to Missouri with his new wife and he still employed with Wal-Mart.

I understand that in our current economic time many of us are on step from being in the shoe of the homeless.  For those who realize it, will understand the importance of caring for the homeless and disadvantaged.  The task is much greater than we can handle alone, however, together we can positively affect the lives of the homeless and disadvantaged.

Helping my Family member moves from the state of existence to achieving a college degree, I believe homeless man and women can do the same.  Being an African American female, I believe it is my calling to help rebuild men’s live-that they become great fathers and husbands.  Homelessness is a great American problem.  Where there are great problems there are great opportunities.

one Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you”.  My calling is to be an instrument of the Lord as we are caring for the homeless and disadvantaged citizens of Dallas.  People make it because others extend their hands to pull them up – this is the mission of CHIPS.  We are extending our hands to help the homeless grow to a new level of independence and self-sufficiency.

My heart’s desire is that all mankind have their needs met and continues to have joy and peace in their life.  I know that God has Not only called me, anointed me and equipped me, but also prepared me to be a taskmaster for the kingdom.  I will always build my hope on God’s eternal word. (Matt 20:16) I am His Chosen Vessel!

The true blessing in life is the ability to give back.  Changing ones bleak future by stepping in and giving hope, then watching the process take place, there is nothing more gratifying.  This my dream through this wonderful organization.

Everyone in their lifetime has been extended a lifeline. I can testify that through God’s grace and mercy, he has sent people to help men.  C.H.I.P is my way of giving back.

Matthew 25:36 As children of God, it is our duty to serve those in need. The Community of Hope and Intervention Program is a great ministry to feed the hungry, gives drink to the thirsty, and give clothing to the naked.

I strongly believe that all of us yearn to have: Affection, Appreciation, Attention and Approval then and only then can we thrive no what the our lot in life.  I have a very compassionate heart that goes out to the homeless and love to assist them whenever I can.  Sympathy for people runs deep in my emotions.
